Song for a Whale

Iris is lonely. She is the only deaf student at her school and is unable to directly communicate with anyone other than her interpreter. Her grandparents are deaf and her grandfather recently died leaving her grandmother very lonely.
While in science class Iris learns about a whale who is unable to talk to other whales and she begins her adventure to write a song for Blue 55.
Her journey takes her to band class where classmates record a song for Blue 55. When no one will help her to get the song to Blue 55 her adventure with her grandmother continues.
This is a book about identity, grief, recovery and finding your way. Iris finds her way to Blue 55 with the help of her grandmother and friends she makes along the way.
