Space for Saffron

Saffron is a spunky, space loving middle schooler, and BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid) wearer. Saffron and her moms live in Iowa but when one of her moms gets fired and opportunity to run the family cafe in Silicon Valley arises, the family heads to California for six months.
When they arrive, Gran is off on a cruise and her family sees what financial trouble the cafe is in. Saffron finds her people at her new school and togther they come up with a plan to save the cafe.
While Saffron has some inital struggles at her new school, she finds that her new friends will support her. We learn how hard and tiring it can be to wear a hearing and that hearing fatigue is real.

This book is for young adults and is about Delany who comes from a family of overprotective parents who are also hippies. She desperartly wants some independence and to go to college. It turns out she is able to get a full ride to a college that specializes in the paranormal even though she is unaware of her abilities.
Delany wants to do things on her own but finally realizes she needs help and some accommodations in academics.
